ETTORE. SORRY!

The JW Anderson Workshops continues its creative series with a new exhibition by artist Giles Round.

Ettore. Sorry! focuses on Round’s ongoing series of ceramics, each a misappropriation of Ettore Sottsass’ iconic Shiva vase. The phallic vases, remembered badly and rendered flaccid are both homage and apology to Sottsass and his iconic work. The latest in the series, created for JW Anderson Workshops, continues this production of tragic-comic pop objects into a suite of almost identical apologies.

Round’s work spanning ceramics, sculpture, furniture, print, painting and textiles have gained him international recognition and have been showcased worldwide; Serpentine Gallery (London, 2010), ICA (London, 2013), Whitechapel Gallery (London, 2015), David Dale Gallery (Glasgow, 2013), Galerija Jakopič and Moderna galerija (Ljubljana, 2015), Nuvolari (Paris, 2015) and Mercer Union (Toronto, 2014-15) among others.

For JW Anderson Workshops Round has specially created two multiples of sew-on ceramics. Priced at £35 the limited editions consist of 50 phallic bones and 50 bonelike phalluses in colours; black, yellow, grey, pink, celadon, red, green, orange, blue and white. Each is embossed with the JW Anderson Anchor marking the collaboration.
